Where it Begins
From an early age the majority of people are told exactly what they should and should not be doing in life. As babies we’re like a tiny sponge taking in all the information we can about the world around us, even if some of that information isn’t necessarily the best for us. This is how resistance can occur at a young age. It’s not something that’s our fault but we still have to live with the consequences created by that resistance every day.

A Note to You
As you continue reading I would like you to view me as a best friend, older sister, heck– even a mom if that’s what you’re needing right now. This is because I truly strive to be just that when I’m writing every single one of my blog posts. I want to be someone you can turn to to seek advice from, hear encouraging words, and learn that there are people who think just like you and want to see you succeed. So please listen carefully to every word I’m about to tell you.

Be Honest
Everyone put on this earth is meant to do something. We all have our passions even if we don’t want to admit it to ourselves. It can be the most random of things. Maybe your passion is collecting postage stamps and learning the history behind each one. Perhaps you love expressing yourself artistically through tiny little doodles. It doesn’t matter how big or how small, I’m telling you, you know exactly what it is. Even if you’re shaking your head and mentally saying
“No. You’re wrong. I have no idea what the heck I’m doing in my life or what brings me passion, happiness, joy..”
I want you to be honest. Brutally honest. Be raw with yourself for the first time in your life.
I know you have this gnawing feeling deep inside about what it is you want to do. You can’t escape it. It looms over you year after year, getting bigger and bigger. And guess what? It’s going to continue to grow until you’re enveloped in a black cloak of frustration and despair.
I encourage you right now to look at what’s causing this gnawing in your bones and actually talk to it. Say hello. Shine some light on it and acknowledge its presence.

It Matters Because It’s Yours
That is your dream. That is your purpose. This is your life’s passion.
It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small. It doesn’t matter if others have told you that your desires are too big and they don’t happen “to people like us”. Maybe you’ve heard that you’ll never make any money from doing what you love. Or that you’re too old/young to go down that path now. I don’t give a shit about what you’ve been told in your life about this dream up until now. Right now, I am telling you that it matters.
You going after what you want matters. You finally saying it to yourself and out loud matters! Declare to yourself, declare to the world what your dream is. Be honest. It’s terrifying, finally admitting to yourself what you want but when you do you will feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

Work Towards Them Courageously
Now that you have proclaimed your wants, your desire, your dream and put it out to the world– it’s time to start working towards it. Baby steps at a time. But as you work through all of the anxiety, fear of failure, and limiting beliefs that have kept you from going after what you truly want all these years, you’ll see that it gets easier. As you continue to actively work on your passion, your dream, your ultimate goal every single day little by little, you’ll eventually look back and realize you are doing it. You are living the life that is meant for you. You are in it RIGHT NOW.
That’s all I want for you. I want you to be honest with yourself and listen to the voice deep within that is saying to wake up! It’s telling you to live your life authentically as yourself. That’s all that matters to me– is you living for you.

I’m writing this because there are too many people in this world who have beautiful, amazing, talented gifts that aren’t expressing themselves and going after what it is that they truly want. I’m seeing people’s light die everyday; they give up on truly being happy and doing what they love. All because of projections from those who will never live a day in your shoes. I want to give you courage and permission– when you do what you love, you inspire others to do the same and it makes the world a happier place.
